Richard Evelyn Byrd, known for a wide range of people as a polar pilot, pioneer, explorer and adventurer. Fame came to him after November 28, 1929, when he flew over the South Pole. Richard Byrd had already had the experience of two record flights - over the North Pole in 1926 and over the Atlantic Ocean from New York to the coast of Normandy in 1927. After that, Richard Byrd four times visited the Antarctic expeditions, including a rather strange operation the U.S. Navy "high jump", giving rise to many rumors flying discs, attacked the American fleet out of the water off the coast of Antarctica.
